Lum-Tec Eclipse E6: The Ultra-Thin Green Sunburst Automatic

Most tool-watch brands get thicker as they get tougher. With the Eclipse, Lum-Tec went the other way. The brand calls it a "razor thin" series "designed to absolutely melt over your wrist," and says more than two years of engineering and development went into it. The latest dial, the Eclipse E6 in green sunburst, is a strong reminder that a slim, dressy integrated-bracelet watch can still carry MDV lume and everyday durability. Here is a closer look at the E6 and its sister models.

Engineering Thin: The Eclipse Case and Bracelet

The Eclipse's party trick is how its case and bracelet work together. Per Lum-Tec's specifications:

  • 42mm case width excluding crown, 47mm lug-to-lug
  • 9.1mm thick case with a 3mm leading edge
  • Integrated bracelet, 3mm thick, tapering from 26mm at the case to 18mm at the clasp
  • Each bracelet link pivots just 2mm apart, so the bracelet lies flat against the wrist
  • Surgical-grade forged and heat-treated 316L stainless steel
  • Highline brushed and polished finishing, applied by hand, with an anti-fingerprint coating

Lum-Tec explains that its forged construction re-aligns the metal grain structure, increasing fatigue strength by 37% over a typical cast steel case and eliminating the voids and porosity that limit finishing quality. The result, in the brand's words, is a watch that "actually becomes part of your wrist."

The E6 Dial: Green Sunburst With Floating Lume

The Eclipse E6 features a bi-layer green sunburst 3D dial with extruded luminous index markers. Lum-Tec describes these as "solid, floating 3D luminous markers" around the edge of the dial, which give the Eclipse its symmetry and legibility. The markers glow with MDV luminous technology using custom-developed X1 Swiss C3 GL (green glow) in 30 layers. Premium diamond-cut, micro-polished hands are filled with X1 grade C3 Super-LumiNova.

Movement and Durability

  • High-precision tuned Miyota 9039 automatic, adjusted in 6 positions after full assembly
  • Anti-shock movement mounting system
  • Sapphire crystal with double-side anti-reflective coating
  • Threaded sapphire display caseback
  • Screw-lock crown with double diamond sealing system and Viton® gaskets
  • 100 meters (330 ft) water resistance

Lum-Tec says the Eclipse is "perfect for any formal occasion" but also ready as a daily watch thanks to its 100m water resistance and anti-shock mounting. Ownership is backed by lifetime free movement timing regulation, lifetime free pressure testing and seal lubrication and cleaning, and a fully transferable 2-year international limited warranty.

Limited Production

Each Eclipse dial is offered as a limited and numbered series of 300 worldwide, and every watch is assembled by hand in Ohio. With runs that small, a specific dial may not come back once it sells through. The E6 is listed at $690 at CGA Watches.

The same case, bracelet and movement are also available with other dials:

  • Eclipse E1 ($795): bi-layer matte and lacquer charcoal gray dial, with hands filled with X1 grade 208LE Super-LumiNova
  • Eclipse E3 ($795): bi-layer ocean blue sunburst dial
  • Eclipse E5 ($795): bi-layer pearl orange lacquer dial

What Reviewers Say About the Eclipse

Scott Witner reviewed the Eclipse E3 for The Gear Bunker and wrote, "At $795, the Eclipse E3 punches above its weight." He found that the anti-fingerprint coating "actually works," and described the lume as "bright, consistent, and lasts through the night."

The Watch Report YouTube channel went hands-on with the Eclipse E1. The video quotes Lum-Tec's Chris Wiegand saying the design is "100% original," and it highlights the machining and finishing of the thin case and bracelet.

The E6 uses the same case, bracelet and movement as these reviewed models, adding its own green sunburst dial and green-glow MDV lume.

Is the Eclipse Right for You?

If your collection is mostly 43mm-plus tool watches, the Eclipse offers something very different: a 9.1mm profile that slides under a cuff, an integrated bracelet that drapes rather than sits, and still the MDV glow Lum-Tec is known for. If you want a more rugged everyday watch, compare it with the Combat B in our guide Combat B vs. Eclipse.
